Billionaire Clive Palmer, through his Trumpet of Patriots party, spent an estimated $50 million on the 2025 Australian federal election campaign. This figure comes from advertising experts cited by the Sydney Morning Herald, though Palmer’s spokesman claimed he could spend over $100 million.
His far right conservative party failed to garner a seat in either house - notwithstanding that he spammed everyone's mobile phones daily with his ill-conceived policies.
Looking ahead to the turbulent years we may face—both at home and globally—I believe the most constructive path forward would be a Labor government supported by a balance of power held by the Greens, thoughtful Teals, and principled Independents. Such a coalition offers the best chance for intelligent, compassionate leadership rooted in the public interest.
In contrast, an LNP coalition is increasingly aligned with policies echoing the more extreme geopolitical directions of the US and its allies, particularly in relation to the Israeli state—an alignment that demands critical scrutiny rather than blind allegiance.
