This morning, my thoughts turned toward the unrest so evident in many parts of the world. At its core, I sense much of this turbulence arises from a loss of connection to self-love and self-worth. When we fail to recognise our innate value, we restlessly search outside ourselves — striving to fill an inner emptiness with more and more and more, or, conversely, convincing ourselves that we are unworthy of receiving anything of true value.
Many of the world’s troubles stem from this deep forgetting of our worth — a forgetting often grounded in early life experiences, ancestral wounds, and karmic patterns carried across lifetimes. When we do not truly love ourselves, our ability to love others becomes restricted. Our giving may grow conditional, guarded, or tinged with fear.
Self-love, however, is not selfish. It is the fertile ground from which kindness, compassion, and joy grow. When we embrace and honour ourselves, love flows more freely — not only toward those closest to us, but also to strangers, to nature, and to life itself. Self-love allows us to love deeply, naturally, playfully, and wildly.
Simple Ways to Elevate Your Self-Love and Self-Worth
Speak kindly to yourself — replace self-criticism with gentle, encouraging words.
Create a daily self-love ritual — light a candle, journal, or meditate for even five minutes.
Practice gratitude — write down three things you appreciate about yourself each day.
Move your body with care — choose activities that feel nurturing, not punishing.
Set healthy boundaries — say NO when you need to protect your energy.
Celebrate small wins — acknowledge and honour your progress, however small.
Surround yourself with uplifting people — spend time with those who see your worth.
Nourish yourself — eat foods that make you feel energised and cared for.
Forgive yourself — let go of guilt for past mistakes and allow yourself to grow.
Spend time in nature — reconnect with the beauty and peace that reflects your own.
With so much love,
Cedar
