Gang wars, guerrilla groups and humanitarian crises in countries such as Ethiopia, Somalia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, Colombia and others continue to cause great suffering. Domestic violence is rife in countless households, paedophilia and rape occur in many communities, while climate disasters, floods, fires, droughts, hurricanes and other severe weather bring death and despair.
Tragically, many politicians prioritise profit, power, resources and retribution over the well-being of their citizens, perpetuating the cycle of neglect and disaster. This will change when more citizens recognise their common humanity, rise above division and demand justice, compassion and accountability from their politicians to work together to heal, rebuild and create a world where dignity and peace prevail.
We can all bring our energy and contribution in our own way and we can pray.
Prayer for a World in Conflict
For all innocent people
Divine Source of all life,
visible and invisible,
take the suffering into your care.
May the terrified find peace.
May water flow to the thirsty.
May food reach every needy hand.
May all children be protected.
May those in power awaken to compassion.
Even when we are far away,
our love travels without borders.
Today we breathe peace into the world.
May all remember that they are not forgotten.
So may it be.
