Like many, I have lived through profound generational trauma; wounds that were passed down through multiple lineages. Without realising it at the time, I found myself unconsciously recreating those same painful patterns through difficult life and relationship experiences. These dynamics were so deeply embedded in my psyche, they felt almost natural; familiar, even. When I see children and young people growing up in today’s world, across so many cultures and communities, I can’t help but wonder what burdens they may be inheriting. The continuing harm caused by misguided decisions by politicians, religious leaders, and even well-meaning but unprepared parents, can leave lasting scars. |
I envision a future where parenting is honoured as one of the most sacred and significant responsibilities a human being can undertake. In that future, those who wish to become parents might first engage in years of conscious preparation; learning, healing, and growing, so they can offer the next generation a truly safe and nurturing foundation.
