These include a high-end 'eco-resort community' on Sazan Island and a far larger mainland project in the Zvërnec / Vjosa-Narta protected landscape and lagoon area. The mainland component would feature hotels, apartments, villas, a marina capable of accommodating hundreds of yachts, including super-yachts, a golf course, water park, casino, retail spaces, and related facilities. Most Albanians strongly oppose these plans, preferring to preserve these pristine, ecologically rich coastal and lagoon areas for the benefit of the Albanian people rather than convert them into exclusive international resorts.
