| Life can feel heavy, with so much stress and so many worries: wars, climate change, illness, death, injustice, hatred, racism, intolerance, lack, misunderstandings, and the everyday worries we often face. It's natural to feel sadness. A kind and gentle ritual can help you with your grief. You can make up your own ritual to process your feelings, or you might like to follow or modify my example below: |
When the world becomes too much for you, take a moment to pause.
Bring a bowl of water or a safe flame.
Write down on a piece of paper, what is going through your mind:
your worries, fears, or sorrows - big or small.
Let them go, one by one.
Place them gently in the water, or let the fire carry them away.
Whisper softly as you let them go:
I feel this grief. I am not carrying it alone
Sit quietly for a while.
Breathe slowly and deeply into your heart three times.
Imagine how warm and gentle compassion fills the spaces where the sadness was resting.
When you are ready, pour the water on the earth or watch the ashes blow away;
trusting that your grief has been witnessed and held,
and that love will always remain.
You are not alone.
