Right now, tens of millions are hungry and thirsty. In Gaza. In Sudan. In quiet corners of wealthy nations too, where children go to bed with empty stomachs. The numbers are rising. This is a moral emergency, and it is ours.
To those who govern, in parliaments and local councils alike: act now. Stand beside the farmers, the gardeners, the everyday households growing what they can. Open new pathways for quality food to reach the people. Bureaucracy must not outpace hunger.
And to each of us – let us look honestly at our own tables. Do we need three full meals, or would smaller, mindful portions serve us and the wider community better? Every act of conscious eating is a quiet prayer for those who have nothing.
To the growers, the givers, the teachers passing on the old wisdom of soil, seed, and preservation – thank you. You are the hands of compassion in a hungry world. You remind us that abundance, freely shared, is the truest mark of a civilised people.
May we feed one another. May we feed the earth that feeds us. May no one be forgotten.
