I voted in favour of Labor because I believed that the alternative would be even more detrimental to the people of Gaza and the region. However, I am deeply disappointed that the Government is aligning itself with the policies of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and ignoring the calls of millions of people in Australia and around the world. These voices are calling for sanctions and an end to the supply of weapons and intelligence that enable these tragic events.
I call on the Labor Party to reconsider its position and prioritise justice and humanity in its foreign policy. History will judge this moment as a defining benchmark of your legacy, eclipsing the positive contributions you have made during your time in government. I urge you to listen to the Australian public and take immediate decisive action to address this crisis.
