Heartbroken that Justine Damond 40 - vivacious, kind and wholesome Australian woman shot to death by gun happy Minneapolis police officer after calling 911 to protect a woman calling for help about a suspected sexual assault. The irony is appalling.
I doubt whether poorly trained killers such as these would be truly remorseful even if they could feel the extent of grief of Justine’s husband-to-be, family, friends and colleagues. My sister has worked with Justine and I only knew her by her wonderful reputation. What goes on in a killer’s mind? - whether a poorly trained cop or a poorly trained and heartless leader of a country? Lust for weaponry and all the trinkets of slaughter. No conscience about the aftermath. Overpower and destroy regardless of the cost. It may well be that training creates heartless automatons or that some are engineered by evil forces. I think the cartoon says so much about the intent to terrorise rather than protect.

With approximately three people killed every day by police in the US, barely a day goes by without a news story or video exposing yet another gruesome police murder or violent attack. Police shootings on such a scale are a phenomenon peculiar to the US among the advanced economies. No country in Europe even comes close.
Police officers maim, shoot and kill with virtually complete impunity. As is the case with Noor and Harrity, officers involved in violent incidents are placed on paid leave during an investigation. It is exceedingly rare that an officer who kills or brutally beats someone is charged with a criminal offence. If charged, it is even less likely that he or she will be convicted.
