In view of the escalating tensions between NATO, the United States and its allies on the one hand and Russia and its allies on the other, as well as the positioning of nuclear-capable forces in their immediate neighbourhoods, the situation remains highly volatile. The deployment of nuclear submarines and warships off the coast of Cuba by Russia emphasises the seriousness of the situation. Israel's aggressive stance in expanding its territorial control over neighbouring countries and resources further complicates the geopolitical landscape.

Concerns about an impending conflict, particularly around the middle of July, are growing. There is a palpable unease among the world's citizens about the possibility of a third world war. The horrific consequences of nuclear war, as depicted in numerous films, are a stark reminder of the catastrophic consequences such a conflict would bring.

Given these circumstances, it is imperative that people influence world leaders, military institutions and judicial systems to prevent the outbreak of a devastating global conflict.

Albert Einstein's prescient remark in the 1940s, 'I do not know with what weapons the
Third World War will be fought, but the Fourth World War will be fought with sticks and stones,'
is a powerful reminder of the futility of armed conflict and the importance of peaceful solutions.

The recent successful campaign for the release of Julian Assange on 26 June after fourteen years in prison is an example of the power of grassroots activism combined with the strategic engagement of politicians and lawyers working for fairness and justice. This success raises the question of whether similar collective action can prevent a third world war. Given the urgency of the situation, time is not on our side.

The responsibility to avoid a catastrophic global conflict lies with the world community. If we mobilise public opinion and put pressure on those responsible, we may yet be able to find a path to peace and stability.

Julian Assange is free. He left Belmarsh maximum security prison on the morning of 24 June, after having spent 1901 days there. He was granted bail by the High Court in London and was released at Stansted airport during the afternoon, where he boarded a plane and departed the UK.

This is the result of a global campaign that spanned grass-roots organisers, press freedom campaigners, legislators and leaders from across the political spectrum, all the way to the United Nations. This created the space for a long period of negotiations with the US Department of Justice, leading to a deal that has not yet been formally finalised. We will provide more information as soon as possible.

After more than five years in a 2x3 metre cell, isolated 23 hours a day, he will soon reunite with his wife Stella Assange, and their children, who have only known their father from behind bars.

WikiLeaks published groundbreaking stories of government corruption and human rights abuses, holding the powerful accountable for their actions. As editor-in-chief, Julian paid severely for these principles, and for the people's right to know.

As he returns to Australia, we thank all who stood by us, fought for us, and remained utterly committed in the fight for his freedom.

The estimated number of galaxies in the observable universe is quite vast. Based on observations and calculations, astronomers estimate that there are about 2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe. This estimation comes from deep-field observations by telescopes like the Hubble Space Telescope and the application of statistical models to account for faint and distant galaxies that current instruments cannot detect directly.

Now to just one of those galaxies - our Milky Way galaxy is home to an immense number of stars and planets.

The Milky Way galaxy is estimated to contain between 100 billion and 400 billion stars. This wide range is due to the difficulties in accurately counting all the stars, particularly those that are faint or obscured by interstellar dust.

The number of planets in the Milky Way is even more difficult to estimate accurately, but current research suggests there are likely at least as many planets as stars, if not more.

Based on data from missions such as NASA's Kepler Space Telescope, it is estimated that nearly every star in the Milky Way has at least one planet. Some estimates suggest there could be over 1 trillion planets in our galaxy.

Specifically, estimates for Earth-like planets in the habitable zones of stars (where liquid water could exist) vary, but one study suggested there could be as many as 40 billion Earth-sized planets in the habitable zones around Sun-like stars and red dwarfs in the Milky Way.

These numbers are based on statistical models and observations of a small fraction of the Milky Way's stars and extrapolating those findings to the entire galaxy. Advances in telescope technology and methods of detecting exoplanets are continually refining these estimates.

Current Understanding
Our Solar System: Now has eight recognised planets with Pluto now recognised as a dwarf planet
Milky Way Galaxy: Contains billions of stars, with most stars likely hosting their own planetary systems. Estimates suggest there are potentially hundreds of billions to over a trillion planets in the Milky Way galaxy.

We won't even attempt to estimate the number of universes!

In my view, it is inconceivable to think that Earth is the only planet inhabited by lifeforms.

Extraterrestrial and intraterrestrial beings have likely been visiting and living on and inside Earth since the beginning of time. Governments worldwide have misled their citizens by dismissing these ideas as mere fantasy, all while secretly collaborating with various species, particularly in the field of advanced technologies.

My research suggests that definitive proof of their existence might well be revealed this year. To this end, I can't help but wonder how the global citizenry and militaries will respond.

I answered it and a woman said 'Hello, hello'. 
​I asked 'Who's this?'
and the woman said 'You just called!!!!' 

I had just been sitting in the sun thinking of Sal and the lovely home we created on the Dorrigo Plateau which I sold after her death and gave all our furniture away and became a minimalist. 'They're just things. What matters is our growth in consciousness'.

Many of these conflicts are fuelled by elderly leaders, often devoid of empathy, who, having led fulfilling lives, are confronting their own mortality.
Leaders such as Netanyahu, Biden, and Putin have demonstrated a disturbing indifference to human life, seemingly poised to employ their nuclear arsenals. Their actions disregard the widespread protests by countless individuals advocating not only for a ceasefire in Gaza but for an end to all warfare.

It's always about money and resources - that's the US agenda for every war since WWII, and its precious young people and those of their allies and 'enemies' are killed and maimed for wars under false pretences. We must continue to rally and work for peace. This requires more drastic action - because activism isn't working fast enough to save hundreds of thousands, if not millions, in the more than 20 current wars. What is to be done? Lay down your weapons? A mass movement to stop work?

'Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., one of Washington’s biggest war hawks, explained to CBS News on Sunday the real reason the U.S. is so committed to Ukraine’s war effort against Russia: money.'  
Graham: "10-12 trillion dollars of critical mineral assets in Ukraine ... and it needs to be the U.S. that decides who gets the prize. They could be the richest country in all of Europe,” he argued. “I don't want to give that money and those assets to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin to share with China. If we help you Ukraine now, they could become the best business partner we've ever dreamed of.”

The United States is home to a diverse population of extremely intelligent individuals, yet it is disheartening to see that the two main contenders for the presidency are elderly men who seem to have personal agendas. Joe Biden, representing the Democrats, is often criticised for his forgetfulness and has been labeled as a dangerous warmonger. On the other hand, Donald Trump, representing the Republicans, is often accused of being a narcissistic, self-serving elitist who prioritises the interests of the wealthy.

It is concerning that both major parties support Israel's actions towards the Palestinians, which many view as a genocide. The hypocrisy of the United States and its allies, who call for a ceasefire without demanding an end to the bombings, while simultaneously providing funds and weapons that result in the destruction of innocent lives, is truly unacceptable.

​Intelligence alone does not guarantee empathy or wisdom, and this is a sad reality that we must face. However, there are alternative options available.
