Australia is still in desperate straits - there is rain only in a few areas - not enough to extinguish fires and tragically causing problems by making the roads slippery thus causing accidents and making it difficult to get heavy machinery in. We need 200 mm in a short period of time to put fires out.
There are still over 130 fires in NSW with 54 not contained - I haven't checked the other states and territories.
Trucks can't get into dairy farms, so farmers are forced to pour milk on the ground after milking.
Fire has cut Western Australia off from the rest of Australia causing trucks and cars to be stranded since New Year's Eve - people are sleeping in their cars by the side of the road and food is running out at Roadside cafes.
Generous people have donated goods, and now donations of money are preferred to purchase what is now needed.
