Here's how you can volunteer and donate to the Australian Red Cross
Climate Refugees need housing, support and basics. It's lovely to see families housing homeless family members and friends. Tens of thousands have been ordered to leave their homes for evacuation centres. Some are sleeping in parking lots, beaches, and the rooms offered by kind strangers.
Statistics reveal 11.2% of homes in Australia are unoccupied. These, along with thousands of vacant churches and church and government properties could go a long way to housing hundreds of thousands of newly homeless and traumatised people. Those with empty rooms and caravans may also consider offering their spaces too as many have already done.
