The first Harmonic Convergence was 33 years ago on August 16 to 17, 1987. This was the first synchronised Global Peace Meditation in human history. The event was organised by José and Lloydine Argüelles, co-founders of the 13-Moon Calendar Change Peace Movement, and it was based on the prophecies and teachings of the ancient Mayan calendar.
Now in 2020, we gather once more to assist our world in transitioning from the state of confusion and chaos so present today into one of unconditional love and planetary coherence. As each one of us embraces higher states of consciousness, new energy and insight are available for us to pave the way to a better future.
My life changed profoundly 33 years ago at 'The Harmonic Convergence' on August 17, 1987. I had created my dream business called 'Spiral Metaphysical Centre, Bookshop, and Publishers' in Melbourne, Australia, in 1981. They were exciting days, and our customers and staff were on the cutting edge of the surge in spiritual and personal development.
We had a massive noticeboard for customers and event organisers to display their flyers for functions, products, services etc. One day a stranger came in and posted a small notice about a gathering in a farmers field about an hour's drive west of Melbourne on 17 August, 1987. He told me they expected perhaps a dozen or so people and that there was to be a Spiral Dance and Meditation for Global Peace. I had already read up on THC as we stocked Jose's books and I was practising - rather unsuccessfully - to adjust my life to their 13 Moon Calendar.
My 14-year-old son, and a friend and I decided to make a day of it by meditating at sunrise at the very top of mystical Hanging Rock near Woodend. Later when we drove to the nearby farm for the event we were greeted by streams of cars bumper to bumper in both directions. The timely purpose energised by the exceptional alignment of planets in the Solar System had attracted hundreds of people to participate in this deep change to natural time rather than imposed time.
The energy of the cosmic alignment was so powerful I was brought to my knees, although I was aware unseen forces and entities were recalibrating me at deep levels. An energetic gateway opened and what followed was a gradual introduction to the profusion of cultures and life in the invisible realms.
