Dear loyal readers,
I am relieved to share that I had surgery on Wednesday 22 May to replace the battery — technically known as a generator— to my trusty pacemaker. The operation came just in time as the old battery was too depleted to provide accurate readings. The procedure went exceptionally well thanks to the outstanding staff.
Fortunately, I was the first patient of the day as there were only two beds available for seven patients. This seems to be a daily challenge as staff often have to juggle places and occasionally send people home. I stayed awake during the fascinating forty-five minute procedure and only needed a local anaesthetic to numb the area.
Unfortunately, I developed a painful rash with blisters due to an allergy to the adhesive dressing. Thankfully, my dear friend Leonie replaced the dressing with a different material, and I expect to be completely healed in a few weeks or less. I feel blessed to have Leonie and her husband Marty as my support team, taking care of all my needs and keeping me in good spirits.
Thank you all for your continued support and well wishes - I'm good for another decade or so.
